McMaster & Heap Veterinary Practice is a progressive, high quality small animal practice located in the South of Christchurch. Luckily it has survived remarkably the thousands of earthquakes and aftershocks that have rocked Canterbury these past few years.

McMaster & Heap Veterinary Practice is a clinic I’m very proud to work in, manage and own. My husband and I bought an older existing clinic ( that previously sat in our carpark) in 1999 and after many years of planning, dreaming and working hard in our business, we moved into our new purpose built clinic towards the end of 2008. We have never looked back.
We are extremely fortunate to have a remarkable group of talented, compassionate, hard working vets and nurses who really do have your pets best interests at heart. I can honestly say they enjoy coming to work. Our practice is home to 7 vets, 2 receptionists, 11 nurses, 2 cattery staff and a mixture of aspiring, helpful, keen nursing students. Many times they perform over and above what is asked of them to ensure your pet has the best of everything.
Dr Steve Heap provides a full surgical and medical Ophthalmology service to our clients and also travels 3 monthly to Dunedin and Nelson to provide a referral service for clients that find it difficult to travel.
Dr Catherine Morganti provides an extensive ultrasound service to our clients and also accepts referrals. Catherine is skilled in using our Endoscope, often for removal of foreign objects in the stomach, and this service is also offered as a referral service.
Our Practice is built upon our guarantee to do our very best for your pet when ever you need us and you and your special friend will be treated with respect, kindness and professionalism. We will always do our very best to diagnose the problem and make sure your animals have all the luxuries on hand for a speedy recovery.
We have heavily invested in technology and equipment, therefore can offer a complete, comprehensive service. We have the expertise and knowledge to handle most surgical and medical problems that walk through the doors. If not, we can offer referral anywhere in New Zealand.
