Endoscopy
McMaster & Heap Veterinary Practice offers video endoscopy for both dogs and cats, performed by our skilled clinicians Dr Richard Lucy and Dr Catherine Morganti. Endoscopy is a gentle, non‑invasive way to look inside the gastrointestinal tract and can be extremely helpful in diagnosing and treating a range of conditions.
This procedure is particularly useful for retrieving foreign bodies from the stomach or oesophagus and for collecting biopsies throughout the gastrointestinal tract. These samples help us diagnose issues such as bowel cancers, food allergies and inflammatory bowel disease. Endoscopy also allows us to directly visualise the GI tract, giving us valuable information that cannot be obtained through external imaging alone. A general anaesthetic is required to ensure your pet is comfortable and still during the procedure.
We are excited to offer this advanced service, as it provides a safe and effective way to investigate gastrointestinal disease and improve the care we can provide to our patients.
