Cara

Cara

Veterinary Receptionist

Hi lovely furparents, my name is Cara and I work out the front welcoming you and your babies. The best part of my day is seeing your ‘little ones’...and you of course.
Up until 2011 I spent my working years in retail, until I suddenly decided I was in the wrong industry, so I retrained at CPIT and received my National certificate in Vet Nursing. Although I wish I had done this when I was a lot younger it is the best thing I have ever done.
My love of animals of any shape and size is something that has me thankful I have a very indulgent husband. So far I have only taken home birds and rabbits to look after...
Meet my fur family - Richter is a Dalmatian crossed with a Labrador and is completely black and is the biggest doofus you would ever meet. Buttercup is a golden retriever crossed with a border collie and she is the biggest cuddler who sucks up to anyone for a pat.
Kizzie (black & white), Meka (tabby with white) and Tilly (grey & peach) are my cats and they all have completely different personalities and quirks. They are actually the ones that rule the house.
Recently I took home a mini lop that was found, her name is Petie and as we couldn’t find the owners we decided she needed a friend, so after a little drive out to the spca we came home with Boo a small black bunny. Having not had bunnies before I did not realize what cool personalities they have!
I am looking forward to meeting you and your loved one(s) soon.

Emma

Emma

Receptionist

Hey my name is Emma, I joined the McMaster & Heap team in September 2024.

My husband and I live rurally, we’ve gained 6 farm dogs, 2 pet dogs and the occasional lamb which make for a very full house. I’ve always had a passion for animals but it wasn’t until my beloved dog of 14yrs Max passed away that I knew my path in life. I decided to surround myself with people and their companion animals which was the best decision ever!

I’ve been in this industry for 4 years now and can’t wait to continue learning. I look forward to meeting you & your loved ones soon.

Sonya

Reception / Administration

Hi there. My name is Sonya. I began working at McMaster and Heap Vets in January 2015. Prior to joining the team here, I have been working in vet practices for the last 10 years.

You will find me in reception, where I love to meet and greet clients and their pets. I have 6 labradors at home, which take up all of my spare time in training and competing in competitions across the country.

You may spot my wee dog Dart (Lola look-alike), sneaking around behind the counter one day.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Shar

Shar

Practice Manager

Shar has been with McMaster and Heap since 2007, where she did her practical work experience whilst studying for her Vet Nursing Qualification. After gaining her qualification, Shar came to work at McMaster & Heap full time in a nursing role.

After time away to start a family, Shar returned to us in an administration role. Some years later, she is now our Part-time Practice Manager.

Although she is no longer directly involved in hands-on animal care, she still has a great passion for working in the veterinary industry. It is always a highlight to get the chance to meet you and your pet/s, and give them attention and pats.

Shar is pictured with her Golden Retriever Nala.

Lee

Lee

Cattery Attendant

Hello, Lee here! I started working in the McMaster & Heap Cattery in July of 2023 while doing my work experience for my Certificate in Animal Management which I have since graduated from. I have been working with animals in various professional capacities for almost 10 years now, mostly with horses and large animals but I’ve been a cat person and have had cats my whole life.
I currently have one sweet and precious cat called L.C. who came to us as a rescue and my beautiful horse called Harry who is my absolute life and soul.
In my spare time I enjoy swimming, horse riding, and playing Tabletop RPG’s and video games with my friends.
I love having the time in the cattery to get to know all our guests so I can give them the attention and love they will be missing when away from home. I am so excited to continue working in the cattery to provide the best possible lodging care for your beloved fur babies.
